Hero In My Eyes
SLAM Poetry Project
Op-EdIn this project we chose a topic that we were passionate about and what we wanted to write an informational document on. I chose to show how memes are overall good and healthy for the community. The reason that I chose this is because I love memes and I dislike the fact that people are trying to remove them. The main changes between the first and final draft were I made sure that I could clearly convey the main point of my argument. Another one of the main changes that I made was adding a paragraph in my project and making sure that it could be relatable but strong. A main way that critiques have helped me is by showing me what in the writing that I might've missed. It's good to have another couple sets of eyes to see what you could've done wrong and given ideas on how to fix it. I learned about how memes saved a man's life by giving him hope, and he was in a very bad place, his brother had just died and he was a drug addict. Memes gave him the will to live and made him more content with his life and a recovery story like that is very uplifting. I am most proud of being able to make something that I am passionate about because doing that in school can be very rare. another thing that I am also proud about is my grammar throughout the op-ed because being able to write something like that with some very good grammar I might add, feels like it should be celebrated.

Video project
In this project the requirements were that we made a video based on some of the op-eds that our classes did. Luckily enough I was able to have my op-ed as a topic and I got to direct/produce it as well. Me and my group went through many different drafts and critiques and it eventually led us to what we have now. there were many changes between the first and final draft, the change that stands out the most had to be the image quality. The Images were very low quality at the start so I had to replace and re-download them all which was a very grueling process. for this project specifically critiques were more of a con than a pro because of the fact that the people critiquing were focusing more on the topic than the content of the actual video. Everything that I learned from this project was already covered in my op-ed description so if you would like to see what I learned you are welcome to check there. Although this project was meant to be group work I did the whole thing basically by myself because when there was work to be done my group was either wandering or being off task. I'm most proud of being able to do a project made for 4 people alone.
